History

Backround of Calvary Chapel Lynnwood

In the fall of 1991 Pastor Scott was a part of the staff of Calvary Fellowship in Seattle, which he had been involved in since 1984 as an Assistant Pastor.  Sensing the Lord's leading to possibly start a fellowship north of Seattle the word was put out to the Body and he started to meet with a group of people in a home in Edmonds.  The weekly meetings provided a time for fellowship, a chance to grow closer as a group, and a weekly time of prayer to seek the Lord as to what He might want to do.

The weekly meeting grew to a consistent 25 people.  During this time the Lord led him to do some outreach barbecues that many people attended and over time the Lord confirmed in Pastor Scott's heart to plant a church in the Edmonds/Lynnwood area.  So in May of 1992, Calvary Chapel Lynnwood officialy started Sunday services.

The church first met in a closed down elementary school, where God had opened the door for the church to use a portion of the school free for 2 years in exchange for painting the outside of the building.  The church continued to meet in that school for 10 years as the hand of God provided this place for the church to gather.

After this location the church moved to a closed down high school for the next 2 years.  The building was in a secluded location but God continued to bless and grow the church, and by the Lord's leading people always managed to find us.

So following 12 years of being in school buildings the church moved to it's present location.  It was truly a step of faith but God has provided every step of the way.  God has continued to show Himself faithful and loving toward CCLynnwood and we look forward to what God has in store for us in the future.

Calvary Lynnwood is a vibrant fellowship with a great love for the Lord and others.  We have a strong emphasis on teaching thorugh God's word - equipping the saints, worship, and reaching the lost for Christ.
